The APM – Advanced medical post is the pivotal link in the health chain of aid and it is set up between the assembly area and admitting hospitals. The APM is a mobile system which can be equipped as quickly as possible and which provides techniques of advanced life support for short-term survival of the wounded and also intermediate care including first aid and definitive treatment.
This structure can be used both in case of forecasted emergency and in cases of actual emergencies, including type C incidents (extraordinary incidents) as referred in Art. 2 of the Law No. 225 of 24th February 1992, that transcend the possibilities of local response.
Each APM consists of a base module in a shelter and a trailer with two central axes.
The base module is detachable; it can be separated from the trailer and placed directly on the ground. The modules can be stored one on top of the other up to a maximum of three identical units. The module is divided internally into compartments for storing medical equipment and technical instruments for medical operations during transportation to the emergency place.
The overall size of the module of the APM shelter with a trailer is compatible for transport by the C-130J aircraft.
